The new podcast is live. We didn't have time to get all your questions, but there is an awful lot of explaining. Thanks to Luke for going with me on this auditory trip!

Haven Shore Immigration, A New Short Story
The first short piece for Patreon is complete! It's a fairly soft story called Haven Shore Immigration, and it's a more idyllic look at what immigrating to a new home would be like in a more utopian setting than we normally see.
Every week there will be new content on my Patreon page, sometimes even more often. Most of the Podcasts and a few other things will be free for everyone, but the short stories, chapters cut from previously released books and a few other things will be for people who contribute on the page.
Here's a link that talks about the release of the latest Spinward Fringe short: https://www.patreon.com/posts/parts-2-and-3-of-8656887
Here's another link that will take you to our first Podcast for the new Patreon Page: https://www.patreon.com/posts/randolph-patreon-8534428
I hope to see you there!

Dark Arts Takes Over the Spinward Fringe Podcast for Halloween Part 2 of 2
In this, the second part of the Dark Arts Podcast (ignore the intro, it's part 2 of 2), We turn the tables so Ray is bringing up high and low points from the book. In the later part of the podcast I bring up what I'll be up to next in the Spinward Fringe universe and allude to some changes that will be coming to Crewcast Radio in February 2016.
There were a few light spoilers in the first part of this podcast, but there are definitely huge spoilers for Dark Arts in this one, so if you haven't red the book, please turn away.
Thank you for listening, please leave comments and support for Dark Arts below, we absolutely love comments!

The Verdict Is In On Podcasting

There was a little interest in hearing me podcast, so I'm not going to completely rule that out. If I ever have something that would be best presented verbally instead of in a typed format I'll do it, but for the time being you'll have to read what I'm thinking instead of listen to it.
What was surprising about the results was how few people were interested in audio books. Considering I don't have what I see as a good reading voice, I'm not disappointed.
Polls are fantastic, they give me the opportunity to get an idea of what you want and whenever necessary I'll continue to check in and give you the chance to shape what I produce.
The next poll will help me decide which book I'll be working on after Spinward Fringe Frontline is out. I have a few outlines and am doing research on several possibilities, including another 2-3 Spinward Fringe books. I love writing and have a few projects ready to start right after I finish organizing my Spinward Fringe notes and making sure Frontline is as good as it can be before it gets posted on Mobipocket or submitted to Amazon.com.
Thank you for voting and for supporting me. Without you I would be working in a call center somewhere instead of writing full time. In return I'm happy to make you all as much of a part of the creative process as is possible!
While you're waiting for Spinward Fringe Frontline to be released, I'm wondering if there are any other topics you'd like to weigh in on. If you have an idea for a (non-spoiler), poll, leave a comment!

If I Were To Podcast, Would Anyone Listen?

I have the encyclopedia for the Spinward Fringe series, but the recordings will include everything I couldn't in the typed "guide to the books" I have roughed out. I'll be calling the recordings the "Spoiler Files", and I hadn't planned on making them available to the public.
The more public recordings will be a reading of the First Light Chronicles Freeground novella. I'll be making the chapters available here for free so you'll get a chance to hear me drone on gratis.
Recently I've had more than one request to actually podcast instead of blogging. To be honest I have no idea how that would be different from what I'm already doing in text (blogging), but if there's a demand I'll be willing to try. So, that's what the next survey will be about.
I need you to tell me if you want to hear me start talking. Don't worry, you won't hurt my feelings if you want everything to stay just the way it is, with me cleverly typing out every blog post and keeping things prosey. On the other hand if you want me to start podcasting instead, well, me and my production team of one could give it a go and see what happens.
So vote, vote like you've seldom voted before!

Sometimes Ya Just Gotta Do It In Public

These are some talented podcasters who manage to put out three hours at a time each week. A lot of people don't know how hard that is, just showing up on your own at the same time every week isn't easy, imagine three guys showing up at the same time every week, that's bloody hard. They're coming up on 300 episodes. Epic, simply epic.
They manage to do it and be funny enough to keep me listening and trust me, I'm a former Revision3 and TikiTV watcher. Though they're great casts, I only have time for one podcast, and for me that's SomaCow.
Now just imagine for a moment that your favorite podcast or TV show is actually actively trying to help you accomplish something by giving you airtime, putting your name where it will be noticed and flashing your website. That's really amazing to me.
Here's me taking a moment to thank J for sucking me in about 8 months ago and being a great third chair, Geoff for the studio, the reviews and everything else, Mickey for being the almost always intelligent and practical Mickey, and Ross for being so enthusiastic.
Check them out at: http://somacow.com/ if you haven't already.

Somacow: The Greatest Internet Radio Talk Show, Ever

Over the last couple of months I haven't missed a show and I feel secure recommending it to pretty much any adult who doesn't take themselves too seriously. The three hosts (Geoff, Mickey and J) approach a myriad of topics with good humor, generally good common sense, and like most good talk shows, the hosts don't always agree, are willing to explore the different sides of an issue and then move on.
Every Saturday between 1pm to 4pm they have a live show which is later split up into three one hour episodes and made available throughout the week so if you miss the live show you can catch up later. I'll be honest, I'm normally catching up, I've only caught a couple live shows, but live or refried I've enjoyed them. I have to say, however, that there is a real benefit to listening the live show, watching the video feed, and interacting with the good people in the chat room. The hosts do pay attention to what the users are saying and if it's interesting or funny at all they will use it in the show. This adds a level of interactivity that you don't always see, and I really enjoy it.
In conclusion, go listen, go listen now. http://somacow.com
There are several other shows on their network as well, you can take a look around at www.somacow.net There's something for pretty much everyone.
