Happy Holidays! I Bring The Gift Of Spinward Fringe Broadcast 12: Invasion Chapters!

Happy Holidays! I won't be taking time off this year, so the chapters will keep coming as scheduled on the Patreon Page.
Actually, since this is the last post with a freebie of the holidays, I thought it would be great if you got TWO free chapters just in case you need something to read while you travel, hang out at home, or whatever you plan on doing this season.
Chapters 6 and 7 are now free, and Patreon Subscribers get a special chapter: 12 is up at long last. Here's the link!

Savage Stars: Chaos Core Book 3 Is Out!

At long last, Savage Stars: Chaos Core Book 3 is out in Ebook format. I had a great time writing the serialized version of this, now it's been edited a few times and its ready for prime time.
Here's the Smashwords Link, where you can find it in EPub format (Compatible with Kobo, Apple iBooks, Sony, Nook and almost everything else). https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/912624
Amazon is rushing the approval of the book internationally, so you can click on the American link then follow the banner that will send you to your home country's Amazon Kindle page.

Here are the links to the latest retailers to list the book!

Writing this as a serial was great fun, and I'm looking forward to seeing the edited, complete version of the ebook in your hands. I especially enjoyed the crossover with Spinward Fringe. Showing a real connection between the two series seemed to grow the scope of both. I hope you enjoy it.

Dark Arts II Halloween, 2018

Starting at Midnight, October 30, the first part of Dark Arts II will be serialized on my Patreon site for free.

It took about two years to plan most of this book and the set that follow it. Each of the Dark Arts novellas will be shorter than my average work, focusing on moving the story and character development forward at a pace that's right out of short pulp stories that were once published in magazines and books made to fit in your back pocket.

I'm excited to tell these stories in a way that's compartmentalized into shorter editions, especially since they'll read well separately and together, each focusing on a set of experiences while carrying the consequences of each adventure forward.

The release date of Dark Arts II is only a guess, but the book is available for pre-order now. I suggest you take a look at the serialized version on Patreon before you order, though, so check that out here: Dark Arts II Halloween Special

SciFi Saturday Is A Thing!

I'm definitely not the first one to come up with the concept of SciFi Saturday (or Friday, or Sunday, etc...), but on the official Spinward Fringe Crew Page,  it's celebrated every week. You can visit by clicking here.

Here's what's going on there today:

Chapter 26 of Savage Stars (Chaos Core book 3) has been set free! https://www.patreon.com/posts/20374821

Chapter 50 is out for Patreon Subscribers! https://www.patreon.com/posts/22184328

Planning and some other work has been finished for Spinward Fringe Broadcast 12: Invasion, so I don't know if I'll get it out by the end of the year, but it'll be close. There's still a lot of writing left to do.

After this week some Dark Arts content will be out on Patreon just in time for Devil's Night. There's a lot going on... :) RL

Dark Arts II Is Coming In November

The headline isn't the biggest news. Here's the biggest news about Dark Arts.

Dark Arts is going to become a regular series of short novels, on average between 50,000 and 70,000 words each. The planned conclusion of the series will be in October, 2021.

Dark Arts II was supposed to be out on All Hallows' Eve this year, but I have outlines for nine books, not including the first one. I'm going to toss three of my least favourite outlines and write the rest, starting with Dark Arts II, which will be a little different from the standard horror novel.

Dark Arts I (available for free), was written for people who don't regularly read, so brevity, a quick pace and impactful imagery was my goal there. I'll continue that, keeping the books short, but the style may vary as needed while I always want these books to read at a quick pace.

Writing horror is a completely different experience for me, requiring more development time (which i've had over the last decade), but much less time to write. The first draft of Dark Arts 1 took only a few weeks.

There will be something to read on October 31 of this year. A story from Dark Arts II will appear on Patreon and be sent out as a mini-Ebook to subscribers that morning, so you'll still have something to enjoy on that special night.

Chaos Core and Spinward Fringe novels are still in the works, and you'll be seeing news about that on the blog soon, but if you want the most recent news, podcasts and free reading material, Patreon is the best place to visit.

Thank you to everyone who has already pre-ordered Dark Arts II (No preorders through Amazon, sorry). The thrills and chills are coming!

Savage Stars and Spinward Fringe Continue!

Savage Stars is approaching 40 chapters, which means that it's about 10 chapters away from being its own EBook! For everyone who is loving the serial on Patreon, you'll be happy to know that it'll continue on past chapter 50, into a new trilogy of Chaos Core books yet to be named. It'll be a serial first, then released as Ebooks as they grow to that size and finish big chunks of the story I have planned for a trilogy that focuses on swashbuckling space opera more than Savage Stars has so far.
Today, chapter 38 is out for subscribers! Chapter 20 is free for all!

Chaos Core Book 3: Savage Stars Is Huge On Patreon

The forthcoming third part of the Chaos Core series, a spin off of the Spinward Fringe series that you can start for free by downloading the first book: Trapped: Chaos Core Book 1, is up to chapter thirty five on Patreon. Savage Stars is due for release everywhere quality EBooks are sold in November of this year, but many people are reading it already as a serial.

After looking at the next plot arc and where we are in the story of the limited series, I've decided to continue Chaos Core as a serialized story on Patreon as I work on other projects, so it's likely that it'll go on well into next year. The good news here is that if you like Chaos Core and Spinward Fringe, you can read two chapters a week and there will be regular releases every forty or fifty chapters.

After coming to the end of one of the biggest plot arcs in the series, I'm looking forward to digging into what's next as Spin leads us into... well, I won't spoil it, since there's another major decision coming up for her and her crew. The character development that takes place in Savage Stars is essential to the rest of the series, as is the crossover between the Spinward Fringe series and Chaos Core.

That's right, a character everyone knows from the Spinward Fringe series crosses over to Chaos Core. As you would expect from a Spinward Fringe character, they bring... complications.

So, I hope you take a look at all the free content on Patreon right now, even if it is just to get a preview of Chaos Core Book 3. As soon as I have a real cover and release date set, you'll see another post! I'm cover shopping right now, so that'll be soon.

Check out Savage Stars: Chaos Core Book 3 Here.

Spinward Fringe Broadcast 11: Revenge Is Out Now! #1 Science Fiction Release On iBooks!

Spinward Fringe Broadcast 11: Revenge is now available everywhere quality EBooks are sold!

Writing this book was one of the greatest challenges of my life, creatively and otherwise. At over 140,000 words and 70 chapters, it is one of the longest Spinward Fringe books with major plot, character and setting development. Old storylines are revisited, some of them are tied into one or two new ones, and a few scenes that I've been dreaming about for years are in here.

I've already taken a week off after finishing this novel, and I'm starting work on the beginning of Broadcast 12, which matches the tension of Broadcast 11, something that will characterize the next novel: tension and a trip along the edge of disaster.

I didn't finish this book long ago, so I don't have a balanced opinion of it, but so far I'm proud of Broadcast 11. As with every book I release, there are minor errors here and there, some of which have already been fixed, some will not be addressed for a long time, but they're small and few. We put a lot of effort into editing this book, and I truly hope it shows, but we don't have time or money to go through it ten or more times like most major publishers do, or to filter it through dozens of beta readers like some authors do. At the moment, I have to move on to Chaos Core 3 (which is under way right now on Patreon), and Broadcast 12 so there isn't much time to look back.

I am so happy this book is available now, there are secrets that were truly hard to keep for the time it took to write this book. I hope you enjoy it!

Spinward Fringe Broadcast 11: Revenge Release Date

Spinward Fringe Broadcast 11: Revenge is finished. The release date is set of May 14th.

Weighing in at a little over 140,000 words, and 70 chapters this is one of the largest books in the series. The majority of the novel takes place during one week and follows Alice, Jacob and a new Order of Eden character with an interesting pedigree named Dron.

It took a long time to work this novel out, especially since there was a lot of research to do, decisions to make about the next set of books, and an entire novel that was supposed to be split between Broadcast 10 and 11 didn't work unless it was pulled out and released on its own (Carnie's Tale, Broadcast 10.5).

Thank you to everyone who stuck around while I finished this and two other books. I hope you enjoy the story!

Next week will be the last free chapter for this book. Every part of Alice's Revenge appears in Spinward Fringe Broadcast 11: Revenge, which is due out soon. I'm almost finished the manuscript and proof readers are working on it now.

Spinward Fringe Continues: Alice's Revenge!

Months ago, when I realized that Broadcast 11: Revenge wouldn't be out for a while, I started sharing Alice's story from that book. It's gone well, and Patreon Subscribers have even contributed opinions that helped me fine-tune the direction of the story.

It's been months, and Broadcast 11: Revenge is nearing completion, and Alice's story from the book looms large on the Patreon site. There is a release date and a book coming soon, but until then, you can check over 15 chapters out for free or subscribe to see over 25 chapters detailing Alice's journey through the book.

Her story takes up roughly half of the books' content, and the version you'll be reading is early draft so there will be changes that will come when the book is published in its final form. If you think you would enjoy reading her story individually in an early format, then again with the book, I invite you to read along with over a hundred others on the Patreon site. If not, then maybe you should wait; it won't be long now!

Click here to go to the Index to the Revenge Preview: Alice's Revenge on Patreon.

Thank you very much for your patience, the Spinward Fringe story is still alive and well!

Spinward Fringe Continues and Big Things Are Happening On Patreon

Part 12 of the Spinward Fringe Broadcast 11: Revenge preview is up, and it's starting to feel like the novel is being serialized, when it's really only half-ish of the book. It's not terribly hard to ignore by just avoiding Patreon for a while or to limit (by reading the free stuff only), but it's still wroth a discussion.
This book is still being written, and it's the most difficult Spinward Fringe novel to date, but also the most rewarding. It's taking a LONG TIME compared to my other work, but not long compared to novels of it's type: Particularly the type of novel with three strong, novel length stories within. I don't feel bad for how long it's taking, and I'm thankful to everyone who has stuck around.
The importance of this novel to the series has come up in spades in the chapter available to people who subscribe to my Patreon page. Today they're getting a chance to comment on a chapter before it's finalized and perhaps change the course of the series with their opinions. I expect good things, to be honest, and I'm proud of where the series is going right now, but I want to hear more opinions.
Here's the link to the Index, where everyone who is following the free chapters that are released every Saturday will find Part 12, and subscribers (who get 2 chapters a week), can find Part 17.

Much more to come this month, so stick around, friends!

The Spinward Fringe Broadcast 11: Revenge Preview Continues!

Work on Spinward Fringe Broadcast 11: Revenge continues at a steady pace, and, as I originally intended, it is it's own novel instead of a build up to Broadcast 12. After the first few Broadcasts, I tried to make sure that each Spinward Fringe novel had it's own feel and major event while moving the bigger story forward. There had to be a good reason for each book to exist in the series, they had to present some kind of new situation or idea that moved the greater story forward and helped the characters develop.

It took a while for Spinward Fringe Broadcast 11: Revenge to develop that, but it finally has. I'm having a great time writing this tome and the pace of the writing is only picking up at this point. You can see a great big chunk of it here, through the preview that's titled: Alice's Revenge. There are more than half a dozen free parts, with a dozen parts available for Patreon subscribers.

More and more, it's becoming evident that Spinward Fringe Broadcast 10.5: Carnie's Tale is as important as any other part of the series. Only a few characters develop in that book, but those developments and the backstories that support them are important to the series going forward. I'm happy with the storytelling in that book too, so it's a good thing some of the characters are sticking around. A few other things from Broadcast 10.5 are going to come up later in the series as well, which was always the plan since much of the book was carved from Broadcast 11's rough draft.

While Broadcast 10.5: Carnie's Tale is a great volume on its own, the story didn't get along well with the pacing of Broadcast 11, which is break-neck for the most part, and Alice has to go through a rite of passage that she wouldn't be ready for if it weren't for the events of Broadcast 10.5. So, if you are still wondering where the book following Spinward Fringe Broadcast 10: Freeground is (and according to emails I'm getting, there are a few of you), it's in Spinward Fringe Broadcast 10.5: Carnie's Tale.

If you finished Broadcast 10.5 already, Broadcast 11 is happening now on Patreon, but I understand if you'd rather wait for the finished book. It's on its way, and I'm finally happy with what I have so far, so thank you for your patience!

[Chaos Core hasn't been forgotten either. There's good news coming!]
