I always saw this series as an indie effort, with a small group of readers who found it was the right kind of Science Fiction Adventure for them specifically, so when I finally got around to putting some numbers together for a purpose I can't go into here, I was very surprised to find that the Spinward Fringe series has had just over half a million downloads since 2011.
That number is astounding to me, even though roughly 70% of that number is made up of free downloads. I never expected Spinward Fringe to be so wide spread, and that's great encouragement as I write Broadcast 9, which is shaping up to be a fantastic addition to the series.
I'm also happy to announce that I will be releasing two Spinward Fringe novels this year. Broadcasts 9 and 10 are both going to be on your digital shelf in 2015 come hell or high water, because I especially love the part of the story I'm telling right now, and I believe these books must be released within months of each other - I don't want to make anyone wait longer than they have to.
I have to thank all the readers who downloaded the books legally, whether it was during a sale, or if they only downloaded the free books, or normally, that big fat number in the title of this post is thanks to you. Many people are also getting ready to spread the word about the series during convention season, and I find myself absolutely stunned by the level of enthusiasm people have about the story I've been telling since 2008.
Thank you, I hope you enjoy what's coming up!
RL
[By the way, Spinward Fringe Broadcast 0: Origins is still free through all major EBook sellers. Spread the word! Amazon US, Amazon UK, Smashwords, iBookstore, Barnes & Noble, Kobo]

LOVE the books, Brother! You write the series, we'll read it.
So very happy you picked up the metaphorical pen to write. You have a gift and a fresh voice for science fiction. Congratulations on the half million soon it will be much more.
I have loved this series so much despite the confusing titling. I try to keep a text list in the proper order so that I can reread at will.
If you had a penny for every one of those free downloads... Would pay for a nice holiday for you.
When I am asked 'What are you reading,' I make sure I impress upon those who ask, just where and why they should join the Fringe club.
Really enjoyed the books... I enjoyed them as much as watching Battlestar or reading Game of Thrones.... The characters are so fleshed out when you read the books you truly understand them and what they are going through... Keep them coming.. looking forward to 9 and 10..... and 11...12...13...etc :)
I am a 70 year young hard SF reader. And Sir you do write hard SF. I started with the pulp mags at my Local Library and age 7 and grew in to the Golden Age of SF Novels and even though I could not afford more than a library card back then I loved my favorite pastime. I spent every Sat from open to close reading the pulps and then would check out the newest SF Novels that came in to take home. I am positive that is why I went into the challenge of math and science and became a Navy Doctor (Got a full Scholarship from the Navy) after being a Combat Medic (so I could use the GI Bill). I was in 2 wars and Sir you GET IT RIGHT. I am currently disabled but still in the USNR Fleet Reserve with a Permanent Rank of Commander. I have payed full price for all you have written and I feel if you wrote in the heyday of Paper hardback and paperback Novels you could have bought the home you deserved. I am so glad you write such splendid SF anyway. I thank you for you continuing to write SF as you must love it. I hope your writing inspires some of your younger readers to pursue Science and Math. I saw many of the things I read about as a child become reality in War and Peacetime. With Thanks and Respect, Commander K.E. Israel, MC USNR Fleet Reserve.
